Why dont MGMT ever play any of their old music live?

I dont get it. Every time i see a setlist from one of their concerts its just everything on OS and then Metanoia. I personally think that everything off of Climbing to New Lows, the Time to Pretend EP, and the We (dont) Care EP is great. Im sure most of you do too. So why don't they play any of that?

hey there kthom..i thought that too at first.. maybe they dont play all their old music because they are promoting oracular spectacular, the new material and the new MGMT...
they have played just becuz live though....which makes me happy

True, but they also mentioned they consider their older stuff shit or something, so I guess that's why they don't include it in their sets.

boogie down or destrokk or we dont care live. maybe someday they'll play these songs. how could they consider their old stuff shit?? oh well i guess they've changed. im not gonna complain though, OS is amazing enough.

Especially Kids.
I've always wanted to see Boogie Down live, but after seeing that video, i'm a bit scared.
Those old songs are so electronic that i think they'd find it hard to "play them live" though, it'd probably just be karakoke. Not that i'd complain with that, hahaha. Indie Rokkers live.. i think i'd pass out..

Okay, is this true?: That was "management" stuff and when they became "MGMT" they decided not to do those songs anymore, so technically, TECHNICALLY, they're songs from an other band?
Sounds wrong to me, but also right because I just typed it so I must think it's right somewhere,

Anyways.

It's old, not on their CD, and they "threw those songs away" for a reason: they didn't like them enough to be on the album

Yeah, I think the only old songs they have that they actually still like are "Kids" and "Time To Pretend", seeing as how they were on OS. Haha!
Who knows though, maybe one day they'll pull some old tunes out for a laugh, kind of like with "Just Becuz".
