Treasure Island in a week! I'm so excited...I wish it was in a club, but I'll take what I can get! This is my first music festival too...I wonder if they'll have time to play any of the less popular songs...

Oh man, I'm so jealous. Me and a friend were going to go, we had it all planned out, hotel, bus tickets (we live on the east coast) but she bailed. I: It's going to be amazing for sure!

Dude...Treasure Island. What can I say about it? That was the wackiest, most artistic music gathering I've been to. I could rhapsodize about the whole crazy experience (robots and freakshows and pirates, oh my!) but I just wanted to tell you guys how MGMT were. Please bear with me, my friends don't like MGMT so I have no one else to tell every single detail to.

The boys were a bit sedate that night. They played the entire album from start to finish, in that order. This was good because I knew my favorites would be there, but I would've liked them to mix it up and surprise us. During Kids, Ben got a huge cheer just for standing. It made his smile so big. ^_^ But when Andrew went to stand next to Ben like they always do, Ben kept walking away like he was ignoring him! :( Andy sort of trailed Ben for a bit and then went back to his side of the stage. For some reason seeing that sort of broke my heart. Watching James rock out and shred like his fingers were on fire during OMB&M made me feel better.

They came back out after a weak encore. (To be fair, the crowd was probably still tired. We all just barely survived MSTRKRFT's and Girl Talk's sets, which were like being tossed into a whirlpool filled with lasers and glowsticks.) Apparently someone was throwing weird things on the stage because Andrew held something up and said, "Thanks for the panties and the celery." We cheered, and they launched into the three new ones. Last song was Destrokk. The only ones in my area going crazy for it were me and this dude next to me. All in all, the set ended ten minutes early. Short and sweet.

Thanks for the review...I guess they should REALLY get some rest and time off...like somebody here said before they might burn out and over extend themselves if they keep touring...

MGMT at festivals is always gonna be a bit frustrating, cos if they had an audience of people who actually knew the album tracks they would have more positive energy to feed off, instead of just a load of drunk mentalists waiting for Kids.
And they can tend to look as though they're not having fun.. Andrew and James are the only ones who make an effort to even look at the crowd, Ben never says a word or gives anyone a smile, that annoys me a bit. Does anyone else notice that?

You're right although I've seen a lot of their performances at festivals where a large part of the crowd was there for them! I mean, I don't know I am always so excited to see them that I may not be really objective but they are so much fun that I can't believe people only wait for Kids. At the same time I'm not gonna knock at these people since there's a bunch of bands from whom I would really enjoy just a few songs if I saw them live!
